Sometimes that’s a riff I can’t stop playing. Sometimes it’s a piano melody on distorted guitar, or a song rebuilt one layer at a time.
Guitar is usually where it starts. Keys, strange sounds, and “what if?” tend to find their way in.
“That sounds fun” is a good enough reason.
